DeMarre Carroll wins Memphis Grizzlies’ award
Former Missouri forward DeMarre Carroll will go into his first regular season NBA game Wednesday night with one award already under his belt. Carroll won the Memphis Grizzlies’ “Pride of Training Camp” award, given to the player who best displayed consistency and growth in preparation for a new season.
The Memphis Commercial Appeal’s Ronald Tillery wrote a story about Carroll’s impressive preseason. Carroll, selected by the Grizzlies with the No. 27 pick in the NBA Draft, received a standing ovation from Grizzlies fans at the FedEx Forum when he dived over the opposing team’s bench to save a loose ball. Tillery writes that Carroll will help backup starting power forward Zach Randolph and small forward Rudy Gay.
